- When one module in an array is shaded, the output of the entire array can be drastically reduced. The use of a diode can minimize the effect of shading.
- The diode can be used for several functions:
- Blocking
Diode: Placed between the module and battery to stop the module from leaking
to the battery current from reversing the flow from the battery to the
array at night or cloudy weather.
- Bypass
Diode: Wired in parallel with a module to divert current around the
module in the event of shading.
